"The Big Day" is the most important event in the lives of many people. It's an emotional occasion not only for the couples but also for their families and friends. Unfortunately, the big celebrations have been dramatically interrupted by Coivd-19 with new rules and restrictions. While many couples decided to cancel or postpone their dream weddings, others are determined to tie the knot in unique ways despite the circumstances. The movement of small weddings has picked-up during the pandemic. Here are a few examples of how our couples said "I Do" in 2020.
Sonya and Thomas
Sonya and Thomas didn't want something out of their control to ruin the joy and ability to be together. On their original wedding date, they held the ceremony at their family church with immediate families and the reception dinner in their parent's backyard. They are planning to have a reception party in 2021.
Samiya and Naheel
A beautiful muslim ceremony took place at Samiyah's parents house. After the ceremony the couple had time for their photo session in the park. Since no one was rushing them, they could relax and have fun with memorable moments. In the evening, Naheel's parents hosted a small dinner for their closest family members.
Leia and Cory
Leia and Cory exchanged their vows at St. Basil Orthodox Church a few weeks after their original scheduled wedding date. Getting married in the church was a priority for them that's why they didn't want to wait. The day was memorable and meaningful for them as well as for their families. Leia and Cory are still planning on having a reception in 2021.
Trisha and Viraj
Trisha and Viraj are one of many couples that planned to have "a Big Fat Indian Wedding" in 2020 and had to postpone to 2021 due to the pandemic. The couple decided to celebrate their LOVE and exchange their vows in their backyard with immediate families. What a lovely idea!
Alanna and James
Alanna and James tied the knot in an intimate and heartwarming ceremony at the outside gazebo on The Oak Brook Drake Hotel grounds. During the ceremony, the couple performed a few meaningful traditions. One of them was jumping over the broom, which represents a new beginning and a sweeping away of the past. Everything was simply beautiful!
Patty and Kunal
After their wedding cancelation, Patty and Kunal decided last minute to have an intimate wedding in their parents backyard. It was a beautiful fusion ceremony. First, the day started with the traditional Hindu wedding, including the Baraat subsequently, followed by the ceremony. After changing outfits, the families continued with the undenominational western ceremony. The families celebrated their marriage union with an intimate dinner under a tent.
Vaiva and Taylor
Vaiva and Taylor decided to get married on their anticipated wedding date without postponement. They exchanged their vows in the Zhou B. Life's Garden. It was a beautiful outside ceremony!
