Karolina and Matt
In these unprecedented-pandemic times, more couples are postponing their weddings or considering alternative options. Karolina and Matt are one of many couples that had to go through this experience.
“Canceling “the perfect day” we spent planning for over a year felt devastating.” says Karolina.
Karolina and Matt still wanted to celebrate the day they looked forward to for so long, so as restrictions in Chicago started to ease, they decided to host an intimate wedding, even though their contracted church and reception venue remained closed.
Their ceremony took place at the Holy Trinity Polish Catholic Church, with closest family and friends present in masks.
“Truthfully, we were worried our wedding day would be a disappointment of what should have been,” says Karolina, “but our friends and family made our pandemic wedding unforgettable. Everything seemed to fall into place.”
Wedding veil, mask, and bridal accessories were all crafted by local artists. Vendors were accommodating and flexible with constantly evolving plans.
Guests who couldn’t celebrate in person had the opportunity to celebrate virtually through a live stream wedding ceremony.
A small reception was held in the parent’s backyard. Karolina’s parents even built a screened patio in their backyard to host an intimate reception dinner.
In addition, her mom is an outstanding baker. She baked the wedding cake and all the delicious desserts.
“Our community showed love and support for me and my husband. Our expectations for this day were definitely surpassed. We are incredibly grateful for our friends and family who surrounded us with love on our perfectly intimate wedding day.” says Karolina
Getting married is something to celebrate even if it’s not as originally plan. The memories are priceless despite the circumstances when you are surrounded by those that love you most.
